Structured Arabic courses starting from the 15th September 2014

Want to learn Arabic? The Islamic Cultural Centre is pleased to announce a range of Arabic courses at all levels, during the evening and weekend. Come and enjoy these highly participative courses.

- Each Course will be taught over a 3 month period (12 week course)
- Each Course will have a two hour lesson once a week.
- You will have the option to register for a course either on a weekday evening cycle or on a weekend cycle.
- The subsidised cost for each 12 week course is £50
- The average class size will be 15 students.

Arabic Courses Available:

Quranic Arabic

Course Desciption
An introduction to the grammar and structure of Quranic Arabic using examples from the Quran. This course does not teach people to speak Arabic or to translate into Arabic. Students must know how to read and write Arabic to enrol on this course.

Classical Arabic / Fusha:

Course Description
This course is suitable for those who are interested in learning Arabic but lack the basic reading & writing skills and vocabulary.

Students learn the basics of the language including the numbers, gender and greetings, while introducing some basic elements of Arabic writing. The students will be introduced to the elementary guidelines for reading, writing and pronunciations and letter formations. The course follows the recommended text to allow easy reference and practice between sessions. Student may however need to buy some resources and key reading materials as advised by the course instructor in addition to notes taken during lesson.

Modern Standard Arabic:

Course Description
The course is aimed at complete beginners and is designed over 3 terms to enable learners to communicate in Modern Standard Arabic within a limited range of everyday situations using the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The course introduces the students to the Arabic writing system and enables them to read and write basic words and sentences. Modern Standard Arabic is the recognized means of formal spoken and written communication. It is used throughout the Arabic speaking world on official occasions, in education and the media.

The course is taught in English and Arabic using contemporary printed and audio/video material. There is a balance between communicative activities, structure practice, grammar and vocabulary. Class size is normally limited to sixteen students to maximize interactive learning.

Hadith Course

Hadith Course

Course Desciption
Hadith is the second most important source of shariah. The actions, saying and approvals of the prophet are vital nexus of guidance for the muslim way of life. This course gives students the opportunity to understand the meaning of 10 selected hadith from the book of 'Al-Imam Al Nawawis's forty Hadith'.

The Hikmah Youth Project. Starting with a range of youth & GCSE revision classes

Revision for: Years 9,10 and 11
Revision Topics: Maths, English & Science
