Comparative Law: Civil Law, Islamic Law, and Common Law (2025) Author: Dawood Hamzah (PhD)

A Study in Comparative Law: Civil Law, Islamic Law, and Common Law offer an in-depth examination of three foundational legal traditions that continue to shape the contemporary legal systems of modern nation states worldwide.

The book examines how each system addresses fundamental legal domains covering theoretical, substantive, and procedural aspects. These include history, sources, and methodology; contracts, torts, property, family law, criminal justice, and international law; as well as jurisdiction, pleadings, evidence, trial procedure, and enforcement under each of the three legal regimes. It also traces their evolution in light of globalisation, human rights developments, and modern legal reforms.
