During InterFaith Week, the Cabinet Office held an event titled "Faith and Belief in Public Life":

The event was held in the prestigious Churchill Room in Whitehall Cabinet Office.

The panelists for the event were:

• Dr Ahmad Dubayan, Director General - The Islamic Cultural Centre & The London Central Mosque


• The Very Rev. David Ison, Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral


• Rabbi Danny Rich, Senior Rabbi and Chief Executive, Liberal Judaism


• Andrew Copson, Chief Executive, Humanists UK

The panel was chaired by Hayley Rogers, Director General, Office of the Parliamentary Counsel, and Cabinet Office Faith and Belief Champion.

Hayley introduced the panel members and invited each of the speakers to talk on "What is the role of faith and belief in public life?"

There was time for a Q&A session at the end of the speeches which focused on the following questions:

- Methods of engaging with those in public life

- To which extent tis it possible (or desirable) to build consensus between people of different faiths and beliefs.

- The greatest challenge in inter-faith/belief dialogue

The event was attended by Cabinet Office Officials and was very positive in showing the commonalities and virtues within religiosity which help build a stronger and more cohesive society.
