ICC host Vatican Delegation

The event was opened by the head of Religious Affairs Sheikh Kalifa who was standing in for the Director General: Dr Ahmad Al Dubayan who was committed at another event that very evening, he passed on his sincere apologies and his personal disappointment at not being able to attend.
Sheikh Kalifa welcomed the guests and recited Verse 13, Chapter 49 of the Quran with translation discussing the creation of mankind as different nations and tribes so that we might get to know one another.
The event was hosted by the Interfaith coordinator - Peter Bennetts
Speakers:
Prof Father O'Higgins representing the Vatican's St Peter's cricket club talked about how we must celebrate our differences and be strong enough to speak of our beliefs the differences and the common ground and how sport can bring us together as people of faith.
Abdul Rawat of Mount Cricket Club Yorkshire who won the cup this year thanked everyone and particularly The London Central Mosque, Dr Ahmad Al Dubayan and Peter Bennets in bringing us together.
Mr Ahmed Alabool head of political department at the UAE Embassy talked about the great benefits of such a tour and invited the participants to the UAE for cricket.
David Hampshire assistant director the Interfaith network said that there must be a goal above and beyond our coming together he praised the efforts of all present.
Simon Cooper head of sport for the Mayor of London congratulated the whole tour and cricket that was played at various locations across London
Dr Shamender Talwar of the Unity of Faiths Foundation gave presentation showing young interfaith cricketers meeting the Pope and spoke about his foundation.
Peter Bennetts brought the speakers section to a close with a summary of the main points and thanked all who participated in the cricket and attended the dinner
