From Regents Park Mosque to Masjid Al-Harram:

Pilot study of novel computer vision techniques to investigate the dynamics of crowds at Hajj.

We are pleased to announce that a team from Imperial College London, led by Dr. Khurom Kiyani, will be conducting a pilot study on novel image processing techniques to study crowd movements at Hajj and Umrah, this Friday Jumah at the mosque.

The team is collaborating with researchers at the Centre for Research Excellence in Hajj and Umrah at Umm al-Qurra university in Mecca, and will be applying the results of the pilot study at the Central Mosque to the pilgrims performing Tawaf around the Ka'aba at this Hajj in October in-sha'Allah.

Ultimately the research being conducted in this study will help in better crowd management techniques and strategies, with the aim of improving the quality and experience of pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah.

The Islamic Cultural Centre are honoured to help and be a part of such a study that fuses the latest advancements in science and engineering in order to improve the management of Hajj and Umrah.
